Craftsy offers Online Crafting Classes

Not only can you find great deals on craft supplies like fabric and yarn but you can also take some online classes. They have classes that cover crocheting, food craft, gardening, holidays, home decor, jewelry and more. Most of the classes I have seen are $25. The classes are online and you can access them anytime and however many times you want. Click on the button above to check out Craftsy!

On Craftsy, you can also share your craft project with the Craftsy community. Share pictures of your project, what pattern you used (whether you bought the pattern, learned it in a class or created it yourself – you can share the pattern too) and if you are selling the item, you can share the link to where people can buy it. Another great way to get some traffic to your shop!

One great activity for your young one is to create translucent crayon hearts. Review: Lion Brand Yarn Silky Twist

I received Lion Brand Yarn’s Silky Twist yarn in Oatmeal to review.

Here are the stats on this yarn from LB’s website:

Weight Category: 5 –   Bulky: Chunky, Craft, Rug Yarn

6.00 oz./170 g (185 yd/169 m) 98% acrylic, 2% polyester Gauge: Knit: 14 stitches x 20 rows = 4″ (10cm) on size 10 (6mm) needles Crochet: 10 sc and 10 rows = 4″ (10cm) with size K-10.5 (6.5mm) hook

This yarn reminds me of LB’s Homespun yarn. They are very similar but Silky Twist is thicker and bulkier. I think this yarn would be great for shawls, blankets and fluffy hats. It is easy to get your yarn tangled in the fibers so be sure to use a big enough hook. With this yarn, I decided to make a very simple  square hat. I did not use a pattern thinking I could just work my

Sewing Project: Easy Pants with Big Pockets

For this project, I used some tutorials and patterns I found on MADE. Here are the links to the patterns and tutorials I used:

Easy Pants

Kids Pants with Pockets

Kids Pants with Lining

This project was made for a friend’s son and she provided me with the fabric. The lining is a beige cotton fabric and the outer fabric is a thick tweed looking fabric that (I think) she found at Goodwill. Online universities have classes in design for those of you who love being crafty and creative.

I printed out the tutorials to reference while I was working on the pants and I printed and used the patterns as well. It is pretty straightforward and I think that anyone with basic sewing skills can definitely complete this.

Here we go! Here I am using the patterns to cut out my pieces for the lining.

And for the pockets.
