40 views Today, I am featuring another wonderful artist! Please welcome, Baiba, the hands behind OverBoard Studio! Here is Baiba to tell us a little about herself: I am a retired school administrator who has always loved decorating walls or furniture in the few hours between 60 hour work weeks. Upon retirement, I began re-purposing vintage furniture and accessories. I also have taken studio art classes and have exhibited my artwork locally. I reside in Brighton, Michigan with my husband, Jim. I have two sons who have pursued careers in finance and nursing. My biggest source of furniture is Shipshewana, Indiana. There are thousands of pieces of furniture there on auction day and I am always on the look out for interesting vintage styles that need some work. Its worth the long drive. I also frequent flea markets and garage sales. Once I have a piece, I feel my artistic instincts Continue reading Feature Friday: OverBoard Studio By The Steady Hand on March 2nd, 2012
24 views Please welcome, Jessica, the hands behind Whimsical Monkey! Please tell us a little about yourself, Jessica. I started as a bellydancer and took a break from that to learn the art of henna. I made friends with jewelry makers at festivals I did henna body art at and it inspired me to try to make my own. So what do you make? I make earrings, necklaces, pendants, and bracelets because being a bellydancer. I love jewelry and I wanted to make a type of jewelry that could be worn with anything, even costuming. They are all hand-woven with either wire or embroidery threads and embellished with woven wire, feathers, or crystals. I got started by learning basic weaving techniques with wire and embroidery thread and have watched and studied several tutorials. My inspiration is costuming for the performing arts. I am also a huge fan of the peacock. I Continue reading Feature Friday – Whimsical Monkey By The Steady Hand on February 17th, 2012
54 views Hi there everyone! Hope you are all having a great day. Today I am featuring the SusanD1408 Crochet Addict Blog. Susan has been featured here on The Steady Hand before. Check out her last feature: Feature Friday: Crochet Addict. Her last feature was more about her crochet work and her shop. This post will be about her blog. Susan, please tell us what you got started blogging and what do you write about? I started blogging because I don’t know anyone else that crochets. I started blogging about patterns I’d tried and books I’d bought. Once I started designing my own patterns it then also showed what I had been making. I also blog about my CFS but try to keep that to a minimum as I don’t want to bore people I just want more people to be open-minded. I now also post giveaways & guest bloggers. There Continue reading Feature Friday – SusanD1408 Crochet Addict Blog By The Steady Hand on December 2nd, 2011
16 views Say hello to Brandi, the owner and crafter behind Redesign: Rethink, Restyle, Repurpose. You can find her on her blog and her items at her Etsy Shop. I’m a SAHM, photographer, crafter and Etsy seller from Fort Worth. I have been crafty my whole life, so an Etsy store just sort of flowed naturally for me when I finally took the plunge. When I am not chasing my two-year-old or shooting photos for my photography business, Kays Photography, I am sitting at my craft desk trying to come up with something new! Tell us about what you sell! I sell pretty much whatever floats my fancy at the time. I have a holidays section, scarves, jewelry, frames, and thrift store finds. I love a wide variety of things so I am reflecting that in my shop. I am so excited to have an outlet to sell the things that Continue reading Feature Friday – Redesign By The Steady Hand on November 25th, 2011
15 views This week we are featuring Scrapn’ It – where you can find custom scrapbooks and shadow boxes handmade by Tracy! I love scrapbooking! It began as a way to give my sister a creative and different gift for her wedding. We were both getting married the same year and didn’t want to simply exchange money. We have always been close, and she is fortunate enough to have a job that allows her to buy most things she wants, so I needed the gift to be meaningful and different. After completing hers, I loved it so much I made one for myself, and then for a friend, and it spiraled! 12×12 Scrapbook for Bridal Shower — Premade or Custom available I absolutely love doing custom jobs and getting to know and personalize someone’s precious memories. Customers have been so appreciative as the process gives them the opportunity to relive wonderful Continue reading Feature Friday – Scrapn’ It By The Steady Hand on November 18th, 2011
