Crochet Newborn Hooded Cocoon

I have always wanted to crochet one of these. I have seen them used as photo props and they are gorgeous! I found a really nice pattern on Unwind Crochet Patterns on Etsy. It is the Newborn Hooded Cocoon Photography Prop – Crochet Pattern. She has some really great patterns on there.

The instructions were very easy to read and understand. These cocoons work up pretty quick, I was surprised. I used Bernat Baby Coordinates yarn in Natural. The yarn is so soft and silky that I thought it would be the perfect yarn to use. It came out even better than I expected. They yarn has just the right amount of stretch that when you place the baby in the cocoon you don’t have to worry about it being too tight . Here are some pictures:

Yes, that is one of my daughter’s dolls. I wanted to kind of get a basis of what it would look like with a newborn in it. The doll is a little smaller than a newborn more like a preemie. But I really like the way it turned out. I think it would be a gorgeous photo prop. I kind of regret not having professional pictures taken of my daughter when she was born.

What do you think? Have you tried any cocoon patterns? Please share, I’d love to try another one.

This item is for sale at The Steady Hand Store. There are 2 available in this color. $12 each including shipping and tax.
