Crochet Ruffle Hat

UPDATE: 01/15/15: This item is SOLD. Thank you!

I finally found the time to make something from my Diaper Covers & Caps crochet pattern book I got a couple of months ago.

I didn’t want to make a full set until I tried out at least one of the items to see how it came out size-wise. I decided to go with the Ruffle Hat. You can see it on the cover above on the left hand side, it is white with a pink flower. I crocheted mine with yellow acrylic yarn and no flower. The patterns were a little difficult to understand. It showed 3 different size but the only thing that varied per size was the crochet hook no stitches were different. I checked my gauge and took off and my hat still came out a little larger. Although I don’t like it when patterns don’t give you a finished size in measurements since there is no way to really check.

Here are some pictures of my daughter, trying on the hat for me:

I used Sport weight yellow yarn and an E hook. The ruffles are very cute! Now that I have a basis of how the patterns are sized, I know that I need to either do tighter stitches or use a smaller hook than stated.

This hat will fit 1 year to 4T. It measures 18.5″ around and 7″ high.

This hat is available for sale on my store, The Steady Hand.

that is so so cute! I picked up crocheting a while ago but then it became gardening season and my husband bought me a couple really good books so crocheting took a back seat. you have talent though my little girl would love for me to make her hats like that. now following from today’s hop hope you come by and say hello 🙂

This is SUPER cute. I picked up crocheting back in high school but kind of tapered off from it. But now seeing all of the cute things you can do with crocheting, especially the baby hats, I am thinking about picking it back up.
