I would like to introduce you to Brittany – the hands behind Little Green Guy! You can also find her on her Facebook page, Twitter and Blog. At the bottom of the post, Brittany has a surprise and a chance for you to win one of her items…don’t forget to check it out!
Here is Brittany to tell us about herself:
I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil! Influenced by my love of photography, my previous work has always been realistic and detailed. Fast forward to my 24-year-old self, I am a mother of two who has officially stepped out of her comfort zone when it comes to my art. I have taken a turn towards the light heart-ed and whimsical by creating my Little Green Guy, and never looked back!
Little Green Guy started as a gift for my children and sisters. I love to give handmade gifts and was up late one evening sewing (I just taught myself to use a machine last summer) and came up with a little monster, then, being the night owl that I am, I decided on a whim to paint the monster I created. And from there I’ve not stopped! The Little Green Guy has had a few tweaks in design since the start, but I am constantly pushing myself forward.
Every time I get my hands on a new medium I wind up falling in love, my paintings started in watercolor, I have since added calligraphy pens, chalk pastels and digital editing. I recently heard a fellow etsy friend talking about their love of Copic Markers, and I now am curious to give it a whirl! Of course with having no background in plush design it was a challenge at first translating my drawings into a plush, but I am a stubborn one , so I kept pushing myself, googling tutorials, and spending many a late night at the machine until my Little Green Guy (and now his friends) turned out the way I imagined.
Oh and of course my Little Green Guy sculptures, those are SO much fun to create. He has such a “fun” face, that it is awesome to mold him out of clay. The sculptures really make me smile, and I have heard others say that as well, that’s all I want, to bring a bit of brightness to your day!
I also recently self published my first children’s book, Little Green Guy Finds a Friend. Geared at ages k-3rd, it is a story about acceptance, showing that even one kind word can uplift someone. In this day and time, and with children especially, it is important that acceptance be taught at a very young age, and that we put a foot down to bullying.
My dream is to continue to grow my business, to show my children, who are my daily inspiration, that your dreams take hard work, but if you keep on pushing and striving for more good things will follow!
On my Facebook page I am running a contest, once I reach 200 “likes” I will be giving away a Little Green Guy Dog!!!
Wow, thanks Brittany! You have accomplished so much already and I can’t wait to see what you are going to come up with next.
