Size: One size fits most.
Finished Measurements: 24” around and 12” tall.
Yarn: Worsted Weight (4). You will need approximately 250 yards. I used Yarn Bee Soft Secret Yarn in Gold Dust purchased from Hobby Lobby.
Hook size: H/8 5.00mm – or hook needed to obtain gauge
Gauge: not necessary
Notions: stitch markers, yarn needle & scissors.
Sl st Slip stitch
Sc Single crochet
Hdc Half double crochet
This piece is worked in the round. Do not turn at the end of each round. Ch 1 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.
Ch 99 loosely. Making sure not to twist the chain, join to make a circle.
Round 1: Ch 1, hdc in same st and each st around. Join to first hdc.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 8, sk 8 sts, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join to first sc.
Round 3: Ch 1, hdc in same st, *8 hdc in next ch-8 sp, hdc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join to first hdc.
Repeat Round 2 & 3 until the cowl is the length you desire or you run out of yarn. Make sure to end on Round 3. For the cowl pictured I completed 25 rounds.
The picture below shows the cowl laid flat so you can see the ladder design.
