I made that all by myself in less than 10 minutes with the help of DesignEvo!
Starting up your own business is hard. All the small details that you didn’t know about start popping up everywhere. Branding, social media, advertising…all these things are the backbone of your business so before you can start selling you need to build your brand. The first step to building your brand is giving it a face, a logo.
Your logo will be your business’ face. It will appear everywhere! Websites, social media accounts, business cards, flyers, etc. It will probably be on whatever you are selling too. So your logo is very important. That being said don’t freak out. Your logo also needs to be simple. Your logo can be the name of your company, a design, a call phrase or a combination of all 3.
For my brand, The Steady Hand, my logo is my yarn dude.
He is everywhere. You can find him on all of my websites, social sites, business cards, postcards, etc. He can also be seen on all of my handmade products. Every promotional item I buy to promote my business/brand (stickers, shirts, etc.) he is on it. Now this guy was created back in 2011 way before DesignEvo was available. I have no skills whatsoever when it comes to designing logos or creating pictures so I asked my husband to create my logo for me and this is what he came up with. Took him 2 weeks to put this little guy together but since then my little yarn ball guy has been hard at work promoting my brand pretty much everywhere. Logos are important but they are also permanent so whatever logo you design or use make sure that you are happy with it. Yes, you can probably change it down the road but do you really want to? Your logo is what your customers will know you for. It is what they will think of when they think of your products and services.
Now that you know that logos are important you still have to make one. You could (if you are good at the art software stuff) do it yourself or you could hire someone to design your logo for you (pricey!). Pre-made logos (cheap) are available everywhere but you risk having another brand or company with the same design or logo as you. You want to stand out and be different.
DesignEvo gives you the chance to make your own unique logo all by yourself within minutes for FREE!
Even if you aren’t the best when it comes to computers and technology this website is very easy to use.
There are 3 tabs on the left-hand side of the screen: Icon, Text and Shape. This is all you need to create your own logo. To design my test logo I first looked at the icons.
I wanted to stick to what I know so I searched for sewing machines and yarn. The picture above shows just some of the options they had. I selected my favorites and played with the color and sizing option until I decided one my favorite one.
Once I picked out my icon I edited the color and size then moved on to the text.
I spent way more time on the text than I really had to just because I wanted to try out all the different fonts and styles.
This is what I ended up with. My logo includes an icon, name and tagline. Once you complete your design you can test to see how it would look on business cards and such.
This feature is very handy because it allows you to see your logo in use. Does it look okay or is it too busy? Are the colors all right? Once you are happy with your design it is time to download your logo.
In exchange for creating and downloading your logo for free, DesignEvo asks that you give them credit by sharing their website on your social sites or website or blog. I shared their site on Twitter through a pre-written tweet and then downloaded my logo.
Your logo will come in a zip file in 3 different formats: jpeg, png and a transparent png (think watermark).
And your done. Now you can use your new logo to build your brand by putting it everywhere and on everything. Go crazy with it!
