Goodwill Shopping Trip

I have not received any compensation for writing/publishing this post. I have no material connection to the brands, products, or services that I have mentioned.

A new Goodwill store just opened up a couple blocks down the road. We had a garage sale last month that was a flop so I took all our stuff that didn’t sell to Goodwill to donate. After I unloaded the car I figured I would take a look inside. I don’t normally shop at thrift stores just because I always have my daughter with me and I don’t have the time to peruse. But this time, Abby was home with Daddy!
I spent about 30 minutes perusing just one aisle digging through all the stuff they were able to pile on one shelf. It looked like they just crammed as much as they could onto the shelves. It was all mainly art and crafts stuff. I found lots of scrapbooking supplies but I am not a scrapper. I did find some things to buy.
I spent a total of $13.00 inc tax and here is what I got:

$0.59 – Coats & Clark Casing (light purple)
$0.50 – Wilton Princess Party Bags (unopened bag of 20)
$0.50 – Pack of Disney Winnie the Pooh Christmas Cards (unopened – 6 cards)
$1.00 – Unopened Foam Craft
$1.25 – 2 Book Sesame Street Learning Set
$1.00 – 12″ White Zipper (unopened)
$0.50 – Brand New Christmas Gift Bag
$1.00 – 2 Giant Size Plastic Gift Bags
$4.00 – 4 9″x12″ Felt Rectangle sheets with sticky back
$1.25 – Bag of goodies containing: 1 green ball & 1 red ball of Caron Christmas Glitter Yarn, a christmas tree cookie cutter, 6 shape bandz, 2 christmas ornaments, 2 chili pepper magnets, a tiny book of quotes, 3 orange tissue paper pumpkins, a wizard of oz doll, 1 gold foil medalion and 3 unused sheets of sticker christmas gift labels.

So I think of myself as a treasure hunter….if I see yarn…I will hunt it down. I only bought that bag of stuff to get the yarn but there were some really neat things in there. Now that I have this in my system, I can’t wait to check out some other thrift shops. There wasn’t a lot of yarn at this Goodwill and I can’t wait to find more. Not like I need anymore but you never know! You never know what you are going to find….

What are some great things you have found at a thrift shop? Do you shop there often? What are your favorite thrift shops?

We don’t have a Goodwill around here which is a shame because I could donate a lot of things if we did. The closest one to us is about an hour away. You found some neat things.

If we didn’t have a Goodwill to donate stuff to my house would probably look like I was a hoarder…lol. An hour away isn’t horrible but it is pretty far. You could make a day of it and grab lunch! Thanks for stopping by.

I have always thought Goodwill is the “overpriced” store of the thrift stores 🙂 So I am really impressed with your finds! I love to look for flashy, old, vintage rings at antique malls. It always makes getting lost a bit more of an adventure.

Really? It is the only thrift store in my area. What thrift stores do you have by you? I would love to find some vintage rings…you have given me an idea now! Thanks and have a great weekend!

I'd love to hear what you think!
