Crafting can be a great solo or group activity. It a way to unwind, a way to re-purpose, and just plain fun to do while watching a favorite show. When your creative side is feeling particularly girly, these are some of the best and easiest crafts to satisfy your need for frills, sparkles, and flowers.
Hair accessories are a fun way to add a little color and style to any ensemble, but they can be expensive and unoriginal when you get them from any dollar store. To create something really special, make something really special! The base of hair pins, clips, barrettes, and headbands are readily available at craft stores, and the only other things you’ll need are a glue gun (or other fast-drying craft glue) and the decorative elements you want for a fun flair. Add colorful ribbon to cover the metal or plastic base, then embellish with sequins, bows, and faux flowers. If you’re up for a challenge, form ribbons into shapes like bumblebees, hearts, or butterflies.
If you want to add a little girly glam to your home decor, use your next craft time to decorate a lampshade. Add a strip of pretty ribbon to the top and bottom, then fill in the middle with loads of fake flowers. Simply pluck the blooms from the plastic stems, then use a hot glue gun to stick the flowers to the shade. Use a single color for a more sophisticated look, or use a cacophony of colors for something a little more flashy.
Adding sparkles is a surefire way to make everything more girly. Pick up a package of sequins, gemstones, or glitter, then grab the nearest drab object. Using a little glue and a lot of imagination, you can make everything sparkle. Think about designing new cell phone cases with your own personal touch, or bedazzle your favorite messenger bag. If you want to be subtle, embellish your wallet, add a scattering of shine to your favorite umbrella, or, with the right materials, make your toes the star.
Fancy Flip Flops
Now that the summer months are finally approaching, you don’t need to replace your favorite worn flip-flops. Update them with a craft project that is ready for summer fun. Add beautiful ribbon, or strips of rhinestones to the straps, then add a big flower or emblem to the middle. There is no reason why your flip-flops need to be boring; jazz them up with these easy tips.
With some simple materials and a lot of imagination, anything can be turned into a useful and pretty craft project. Get the girls together for a craft night and discover some fun ways to make even the most mundane objects a girly flair.
