This week’s Guest Post is from Maggie. Thanks Maggie!
I’ve seen so many birds jewelry popping up all over Pinterest, and I decided that I had to try it for myself. I love crafting, and I love a good challenge, so I tried for myself. I think it turned out well!
What you’ll need:
- One large bead
- Thin bead wire
- Wire cutters
- Pliers (optional)
Clip off a section of wire about 20” in length (don’t worry if it’s too long, you can cut off the excess later). Begin by placing one end of the wire inside the bead. Holding securely to the bead, making sure the wire doesn’t fall out, begin wrapping the wire around the outside of the bead, creating your “nest.”
Get creative with your wrapping! Wrap the wire around itself; not only will this look cool, it will make the ring more secure when you’re finished. After a few trips around the bead, securely wrap the wire around one side, then create the part that goes around your finger by making a horseshoe shape and connecting it to the other side. Wrap around the wire on that side and secure.
If the ring feels nice and secure, clip the wire, and insert the end into the other side of the bead. This way, there won’t be any wire poking your skin!
That’s all! Pretty easy, and pretty cheap. You can also use your wire and beads to create a bird’s nest for necklaces, bracelets, etc. The possibilities are endless!
When she’s not getting creative with crafting, Maggie spends her days working for Scarves.net, educating fashionista’s about scarf style. Off the clock, she enjoys crafting, cooking up new recipes, and drinking green tea.
I was financially compensated for this post.
