Of course – I get sick now!

Abby’s grandparents arrived yesterday. She had so much fun playing with them in the backyard. We went to a Chinese Buffet for dinner and of course she loved that too! She really liked her fried rice and potstickers.

But of course, since yesterday morning my allergies have exploded and my I am pretty sure I now have a sinus infection. I woke up this morning and it feels like someone smacked me in the face with a frying pan. My nose just continues to run and I look like Rudolph! We are going to the zoo today! Oh joy! I hope being outside will make it better and not worse…you never know! I have taken my prescription meds as well as over the counter sinus medicine but nothing is helping. I am so tired of feeling like this that I will be calling my ear, nose and throat doctor to make an appt. Ugh, this sucks – especially since we have family in town.

I truly hope I feel better soon. If you know of any home remedies for allergies and sinus problems – please let me know!

Have a great Friday!

Boo! I've had 3 sinus infections so far this winter, which I never ever used to get. I would say use the Neti pot, but I'm not sure I got such great results. I was on a Zpack twice and Augmentin the other time. Unfortunately, I think antibiotics are the only remedy. Excedrin tension headache sometimes works for me, but not always.
Hope you guys have fun at the zoo, a little jealous since we woke up to another inch of snow 🙁

Dijkers – Well your winter has been pretty harsh. Hope you are feeling better now!
I have used the Neti Pot, I actually have a rinse that I just use over the sink. It helps for maybe 5 minutes. The problem is my allergies and since Spring has officially started here with all the pollen it is pretty bad. I have chronic sinusitis. I have an appt on Tuesday with my ENT doc for them to do a Sinus x-ray – whatever that is. I was told last year to do the sinus surgery but from all that I have read AND what your mom says…it is really bad and super painful. But right now I will do anything to make the hurt go away and be able to breathe thru my nose again!

BUMMER!! I hope you feel better soon. Allergies are my mortal enemy, they always come when I least expect them and really drive me crazy!

Gosh, if you're taking scripts and still not working, not sure if anything will help without a trip to an allergist. But try using a Neti Pot (cleans your sinuses and rids of pollen and bad things with a saline solution). You can get it at Walmart, Target, or your drugstore of choice. It won't work overnight, consistent usage is what helps. You can do it as often as you want. I find it takes the edge off atleast. In the meantime for stuffiness and pressure, you could always stand over a steaming pot of water. Careful not to burn yourself. You could also take Mucinex to keep things moving so you can try to prevent a sinus infection, but I also chase any sinus meds with Advil or similar to help with swelling. I suffered from chronic sinusitis for many years and had to have surgery to correct it. I've been down this road many times. I was always happy if something took the edge off atleast. Hope one of these helps!

Finding Charm – Thanks for the comment. I have an appt scheduled this coming Tuesday with my ENT doc. I also have chronic sinusitis so I am thinking that surgery is my best option at this point. I hate taking so many different meds just to get to where I can function normally. Have a great weekend!

I'd love to hear what you think!
