What do you use to keep everyone in the loop? I am talking about appointments, school, conference calls, maintenance reminders, etc. It can get very overwhelming trying to keep track of everything. We have a dry erase calendar hanging in the kitchen that we write important dates on. I have to update it every month and I mainly just check it in the mornings when I am having my coffee.

I started using Google Calendar 2 years ago to help keep track of playdates and doctor appointments for my daughter. I synced my calendar with my phone so I could get notifications to it. My husband also had the calendar synced to his phone so he would know what we were up to if he wasn’t home. It got to the point where my daughter and I had a busier schedule than him so he removed it because of the constant notifications.
I use the calendar to keep track of a lot of things not just important dates. If I get an important call that I know I need to remember I will write that on there. If we receive a gift or card from someone I will add that in there as well and a reminder so I don’t forget to send out a Thank You card. I pride myself on being organized but I also know that if something every happens to my calendar I will be completely lost.
PlumLife emailed me today asking me to try out their Calendar and to tell my readers what I thought of it.
Everything I do is connected to my Google account so it is quite hard for me to make the decision to switch everything over. I decided to at least give it a try.
You can sign up for a Free PlumLife account which is what I did (Please use Promo code: PlumLife7 so they know that you came from The Steady Hand Blog). You will be asked to enter your first name, email address and to choose a password. You will receive a confirmation email but you don’t need to wait for it. You can then set up your notifications. You can name your notifications whatever you want, such as everything pertaining to my daughter I would name ‘Abby’. You can also select a color for all those notifications to show up as on the calendar so I chose pink. Everything pertaining to me is green and my husband is blue. I continued to do this for our dog, bills, birthdays, anniversaries, household maintenance and the list goes on and on. I like to have things color coded makes it easier when you are looking at it in the Month format. Here is a screenshot of my calendar:
All the green…yeah that’s me. The best part that I have found is that you can import your calendar or contacts from other accounts like Microsoft Outlook, Google, LinkedIn and more. I imported my calendar and peeps from Google. You can also export your PlumLife calendar to add it to your other ones. You can also create a continuous feed from another calendar. Say for example my Google Calendar. I will update my Google calendar and the updates will automatically appear in the PlumLife calendar. You can do all that and more in your settings.
So overall, PlumLife is an app that stores your calendar, tasks and people. You can import and export information. Multiple users can access one calendar and you can share your calendar with others as well. I haven’t figured out yet if you can sync it to your phone. If you can’t do it yet I am sure that feature is coming soon.
