Purple Bonnet

I found this adorable free pattern for a baby bonnet on Aesthetic Nest (which by the way is an awesome blog). This is the pattern: Crochet Blessing Day Bonnet. So here is how my first try came out:

Mine came out much larger than what the pattern slated. I am sure it is because I crochet a little looser than most. I like my items to stretch and cotton yarn doesn’t do that very well. The pattern doesn’t give a gauge or measurements of the finished project. The one I made above is large enough to fit a child 3 – 10 years old. I know the baby in the original pattern is not even 1 yet. I may have to use a smaller hook or maybe even go down to a Sport yarn.

I used Lion Cotton yarn in Grape.

Let me know what size your bonnet is if you give the pattern a try. I will try again later and see if I can get it smaller.

I’ve crocheted for a long time now and everyone crochets differently. I crochet tightly so sometimes have to use a larger hook then recommended. And I have found that some patterns just don’t turn out the way they say they will.
Were following each other on facebook so I saw you on the Tuesday Trail and came on over to follow you on GFC.

Thanks for stopping by Grace. I tend to crochet loosely so I have to watch my tension and sometimes use a smaller hook too. I am following you back via GFC. Have a great day!
