Anyone can have back pain whether you are young or old so this book is a great read for anyone who experiences back pain, regardless of what it is from. The book is written by Dr. Julie Silver of Harvard Medical School so you can trust that the information inside is from a health professional. (You are still advised to consult your health professional before adopting any of the suggestions in the book.)
The personal stories included in the book will tell you of accidents leading to their back pain or just the pain they have dealt with for so long that it seems normal to them. Along with those stories you will find exercises and stretches to prevent and relieve back and neck pain. Some of them I did myself and found my neck feeling better afterwards. After sitting in front of the computer for a couple of hours I could definitely feel the difference from the stretching. With this book, I have learned quite a few different stretches that are perfect for me to do at home to help with the tightness that I feel in my neck and back sometimes. I wouldn’t call what I feel necessarily pain just more of feeling uncomfortable. I sit a lot and that is probably where the problem lies. I sit when I blog, I sit when I crochet and I sit when I play with my daughter (most of the time)…I really need to get off my behind!
This book can also give you some valuable advice on how to use your mind to reduce pain and injuries, how to protect your body every day to maintain good back health and how to pick the right course of treatment (if needed).
If you suffer from back or neck pain then you should add this book to your reading list!
