Thank you very much to Chicken Soup for the Soul for sending me their latest book to review, Say Goodbye to Stress. This book is not very different from the other books from Chicken Soup for the Soul. It still contains stories from real people that you can relate to.
Each chapter is broken down to include stories from real people about what that specific chapter is about, explanations and practical tips. The book itself is (like it’s title states) about managing your stress. I, personally, don’t think it actually possible to “Say Goodbye to Stress” but I think this book provides good tips on how to control it.
Everyone has stress…it is just there. I stress out a lot! There are times when I feel like I am having a panic or anxiety attack. My husband says that I let too many things get to me. I used to work and now I am a SAHM but I think I stress out more now than I did when I actually worked. I try to do too much at once. I worry about the house being clean, my dog, my daughter, taking care of our vehicles, makes sure that my husband is happy, my blog, my Etsy shop…it is just a constant circle of stress. There is always something for me to worry about. Yes, I truly do worry about our vehicles. I am always checking to see when the next oil change is needed and if they need to go in for a tune-up. I am absolutely horrible and I know it.
Reading this book has made me feel kind of normal. It has helped me to figure out the steps that I need to take to reduce some of the stress in my life. It really comes down to wanting yourself to be happy. If you want to be happy and have less stress than you need to change your life to do it. It just won’t happen and you can’t solve all of the world’s problems yourself. I think that is what is hard for me (and a lot of other people) to realize. No matter what we do – we can’t do everything.
I think this book would be a great read for anyone that has stress (which is probably everyone!).
