For this project, I used some tutorials and patterns I found on MADE. Here are the links to the patterns and tutorials I used:
This project was made for a friend’s son and she provided me with the fabric. The lining is a beige cotton fabric and the outer fabric is a thick tweed looking fabric that (I think) she found at Goodwill.
I printed out the tutorials to reference while I was working on the pants and I printed and used the patterns as well. It is pretty straightforward and I think that anyone with basic sewing skills can definitely complete this.
Here we go! Here I am using the patterns to cut out my pieces for the lining.
And for the pockets.
Now I am cutting out the pieces from the outer fabric.
All my pieces are cut out and currently laid out under the patterns.
This was my first time adding pockets to a pair of pants and it was WAY more easy than I thought! I am sewing the lining onto the pockets here.
The right side of the completed pockets…now they just need to be sewn onto the pants.
The pants are currently sewn together in the inseam and middle.
Pinning the pockets onto the outside of the pants before I turn them inside out to sew the side seams.
The pants turned inside out and the pockets are now sewn on! Now I can cut the excess fabric off from the pockets.
Pinned the cuffs and waistband. Almost done!
Added elastic to the waistband and done!
These pants are very thick and with the colors are perfect for Fall! Of course, my only issue was I used the same elastic as the skirt I made for his mom and it was way too loose. I took 4 inches off the elastic and it is still too loose! When I get them back again, I will cut another 2-4 inches off and hopefully they will fit then. Other than that they pants look awesome on him!
