The subdivision I live in is not complete. We have lived in our house going on 3 years now and they are still building houses on our street and in the area. So for the 3 years we have lived here the sounds of construction are normal to us.
Some days though, it is really hard to not notice the sounds…the hammering, all the trucks (especially the beeping when they back out), the honking, yelling, loud radios playing, etc. This is one of those days for me. Everything is so loud and I just want it to stop! Peace and quiet would be nice every once and a while, especially when Abby is napping. Between the hours of 9 PM and 6 AM are really are only reprieve and then it is just the normal sounds of cars driving by, dogs barking and the kids who play on the street late at night.
I am going to reminisce here for a little bit:
When I was young, I lived in Honolulu, HI on the island of Oahu. Our house was in an area called Kalihi Valley. I remember hearing the roosters crowing early in the morning. The dogs barking and the cars from the nearby freeway, Likelike Freeway. The cats were the worst…jeez, they got pretty loud at night.
So what sounds do your streets make?
