I wanted to make a really warm hat for my daughter as TX this week is supposed to getting some really cold weather…below freezing temps and snow??? Last weekend we were in the high 70s…what???
I thought we left all that behind in MI. At least it won’t last a long time. So back to the hat. I was looking through patterns on Lion Brand yarn’s website and I came across this Speed Hook Earflap Hat. I don’t typically like making smaller items with the speed hook as I think it looks too bulky but I wanted something fast. I completed this hat in 2 hours. The pattern calls for 4 strands on Light yarn but I used 3 strands on Worsted instead. My only issue was the yarn tangling while I was working. This is the finished hat…modeled by my daughter Abby of course!
So I think overall it is a thick hat that will be sure to keep her head warm. But it is not something I am thinking of making to sell…just too bulky. I may make Abby another in some different colors.
