Something big happened at the Fort Worth Zoo this summer:
The Fort Worth Zoo is thrilled to announce the arrival of Belle, a female Asian elephant calf on July 7, 2013. This birth, a major triumph for this endangered species, is the second elephant birth in the Fort Worth Zoo’s 104-year history.
Even though the summers in Texas are brutal we decided to take a trip to the zoo to see the baby elephant. We arrived at the zoo right when they opened at 10 AM and it was already 98 degrees. The high that day was 105. We only stayed for 2 hours and left. The heat was just too much. We did see the baby elephant as well as many other animals. Here are some pictures from our day at the zoo:
