As I prepare for my craft fair on June 23rd one of the items that I am really concentrating on is set-up. I know that my display has always been a bit lacking and this time I am doing everything I can to change that (within budget).
My tablecloths I made myself a year ago and those still work great as they cover all the way to the floor, which is required at most craft fairs. I have baskets and small jewelry displays that I use for some of my items. The hardest item for me to display has always been my hats. Laying them on the table is not a great way to get them noticed. I decided that I would make some hat displays myself for my upcoming show!
I did some searching online for different tutorials on how to make your own hat stand. The following sites have the best that I have found and most can be done without spending a lot too.
This hat stand is made with styrofoam balls, wooden dowels and a board for the base. You can make this stand as long as you would like depending on the length of the base. My idea would be to have the board be as long as the width of my table and it would sit along the back. I would think that I could fit maybe 6-8 hat stands on it at varying heights.
This hat stand is made completely out of polystyrene foam. This one looks pretty simple yet messy to make but each stand can hold 2 hats.
These hat stands are made with wood bases, wood dowels, styrofoam balls and fabric. I really like the look of these stands and even though each stand can only hold one hat you can make them in different sizes and they would be easy to store and travel with.
This YouTube video shows how to make hat stands with styrofoam balls and pots.
So I hope you like my list of hat stand tutorials. I think I will try and make the 1st and 3rd hat stands listed for my craft fair. I will let you know how they come out. Have you made hat stands or know of any other tutorials on how to make your own? Please share your ideas and links in the comments! Thanks.
